What is the 16 Stories of Feminist Activism campaign all about?
The campaign started in 2020, as a desire to celebrate the incredible outpouring of activism that accompanied the difficult 2020 year. This campaign runs along the same 16 days as the global 16 Days Campaign, from November 25th to December 10th. With this campaign, we look to uplift local, national, and global voices that have contributed to feminist activism in a myriad of ways. We look to give a platform for activists who use art, protest, writing, sit-ins, poetry, and other grassroots activism methods to fight for global change for all manners of feminist issues.
The dates for the campaign were chosen to link violence against women and human rights and emphasize that gender-based violence against women is a violation of human rights: since 1991, the campaign has been active between November 25, the International Day Against Violence Against Women, and December 10, International Human Rights Day.
